BBC: The Arts Hour on Tour in L.A. – Live with Nikki Bedi

With the Academy Awards season in full swing, host Nikki Bedi (she/her) is joined by some of Hollywood’s hottest talents on stage at REDCAT to discuss how social movements and streaming services are shaking up the entertainment industry, and the way forward for diversity, equality, and inclusion in film and on screen.
Guests include Barry Jenkins, Oscar-winning director of the films Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk, and most recently, the TV series adaptation of Colson Whitehead’s novel, The Underground Railroad; director Sian Heder, whose Oscar-nominated film CODA centers on a teenage girl who is the only hearing member of her family and features three deaf actors and dialogue in American Sign Language; and Soo Hugh, the showrunner, executive producer, writer and creator of the upcoming TV series Pachinko, a multi-generational drama about the hopes and dreams of a Korean immigrant family based on the international best-selling novel of the same name.
There will also be live musical performances from LA rapper and Grammy nominee, D Smoke; and Ceci Bastida, a ska punk pioneer from Tijuana turned LA singer/songwriter sensation. The hilarious stand-up comic and TV writer Megan Gailey will keep us laughing.
