New year, new budget proposal for California. We'll dive deep on Governor Newsom's agenda. Meanwhile, the Biden campaign gets a nod from TWO Southern California mayors. We'll look at what it means.

Local Reaction to Homeless Plan

In his budget announced today, Governor Newsom is asking for $1.4 billion dollars to address homelessness. That money would go towards projects to build more shelters and provide healthcare services. We find out what L.A. locals could specifically see out of that money.

Streetlight Redesign

There are 223,000 streetlights throughout Los Angeles. Only a fraction of those are high-styled and look close to what you find at the art installation "Urban Lights" at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.  But now the city is aiming to change that...with a contest asking people to redesign the perfect L.A. streetlight. And the perfect design isn't just for car culture like they had been in the past but for pedestrians, too. That contest is called L.A. Lights the Way and today is the last day to register before submitting a design in early March.

Vermonica Returns

Before Urban Lights there was Vermonica. For almost 25 years the light installation stood at the corner of Santa Monica and Vermont. Until late 2017 when it disappeared without notice. Now, it's coming back. We here about the efforts to restore it from the artist, Sheila Klein.
