Analysts say Sports Chalet struggled because of considerable competition from similar stores;

Sport Chalet, the sporting goods chain that has dozens of locations around Southern California, announced Saturday morning that it will close all of its stores and has already ceased online purchasing.

The company released a statement, which can be found on the home page of its website.

Gift cards, store credit and other rewards will be honored until April 29, according to the company. That's also the last day any customers can pick up things they sent to the store to get fixed.

In addition to having a still-functional store locator,  the company statement also directs customers to the chain's sister stores, Eastern Mountain and Bob's Stores. There was no explanation for the closure in the statement.
