National Cat Day: How to get cats Ubered to your office
Here's one way to win over your coworkers: Take advantage of Uber's annual Kitten Car.
That's right, folks. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Uber cars will transport kittens from three local shelters — Kitty Bungalow, spcaLA and Heaven on Earth — for cat playtime deliveries.
All you have to do is fork over $30, and you'll get 15 minutes with two furry friends. A rep from the shelter will oversee your play date. Just be sure to designate an enclosed space — with no other animals around — prior to #UberKITTENS arriving.
The special event is meant to connect cat lovers with adoptable kittens on National Cat Day, according to the ridesharing service. You can't adopt the cats on the spot, but all kittens are eligible for adoption. If you're interested, "claim" the kitty and visit the respective shelter later.
Uber says availability is limited, but it'll do its best to deliver kitten cuddles across Los Angeles and Orange counties. Proceeds will benefit participating shelters.
How it works
- Open your Uber app between 11 a.m and 3 p.m.
- Request the “KITTENS” option in your app.
- Once the kittens arrive, you and your friends will get to enjoy 15 minutes of kitten cuteness for a $30 "snuggle fee."
