A hammerhead shark bit a kayaker on Saturday afternoon, according to officials with the Ventura County Fire Department.

The kayaker, who was identified as a male in his 20s, was attacked off the shore near Deer Creek Road at 2:40 p.m. as he and another separate kayaker were attempting to make it to shore, officials told KPCC.
