Get ready Los Angeles, bike events take over the whole county starting Monday. Bike Week LA is a a series of weeklong events that are aimed at community engagement around bicycling and pedestrian safety.
The numerous events encourage commuters to leave their cars behind and promote bike safety awareness, "Kinda giving a venue for people to meet each other from the different communities," Jack Moreau, Bike Week LA events coordinator for Metro said. The events will go beyond promoting alternate transportation and safety for some: Bike Week will also celebrate a love for cycling itself, no matter a rider's level of experience.
"It's all about trying and engaging, seeing something new," Moreau said.
"You always see something great when you're biking on the street that's why people who bike love it, become addicted to it. I mean, I know I can't resist a taco every time I smell it, and so you just suddenly get all this sensational experience out of it."
Here are some of the music performances, art shows, workshops and events you can expect at the 2015 Bike Week LA extravaganza.
