A man who allegedly shot at an LAPD patrol car during gang retaliation has been charged, according to a Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office press release.
Christopher Taylor, 18, faces two counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle, two counts of assault on a peace officer with a semi-automatic firearm and one count of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, according to the release. Taylor was set to be arraigned with prosecutors seeking bail of $2 million, with a complaint that includes gang and gun allegations.
Taylor and another suspect allegedly opened fire on rival gang members who were driving in a car on Sunday, according to the release. Prosecutors say the car sped away as an LAPD patrol car drove through the area, with Taylor and the other suspect allegedly firing on the patrol car.
The officer returned fire at Taylor and another suspect, who were both on foot, according to the release, but neither the officer nor the suspects were hit by any bullets.
Taylor faces a maximum sentence of life in prison, according to the release.
