At least six people were injured Thursday morning when a semi truck collided with a bus carrying disabled passengers on the 210 Freeway in Pasadena.
The crash took place on the westbound 210 at Hill Street around 9:40 a.m.
Pasadena fire spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said several lanes were shut down for several hours as six people were transferred to local hospitals. At least one victim suffered serious injuries. Five of those injured were wheelchair-bound, Derderian said.
"Right now we have several patients that we're assessing on the side of the highway to evaluate if they do need to be transported to a local hospital," she added.
Derderian said the tally of those injured could rise as paramedics completed their roadside evaluations.
It's not yet clear why the semi rear-ended the bus, she said. She said the collision caused a chain reaction involving several other vehicles.
