Knott’s to hold monster tryouts for Halloween Haunt

You might see a ghastly gaggle outside Knott’s Berry Farm today. The people in that long line hope for a real scream... and a paycheck.

They're monster hopefuls.

Knott’s is holding open auditions to cast monsters for its annual Halloween Haunt. They’ll scream and groan and do ghoulish things in the hope Knott’s will choose them for the seasonal monster job.

Knott's needs to hire 1,000 monsters for the annual event. The best monsters will get to roam the streets of the theme park and scare people during the Haunt. Everyone else will play roles in the park’s 13 ghoulish mazes.

Last year, several hundred people showed up for the open audition. Knott's expects several hundred to try out this year.

Auditions begin at 9 a.m. at the Knott's Berry Farm Employment Center, at the edge of the park, on Grand Avenue, between La Palma Avenue and Crescent Avenue. But the line is expected to start much sooner.

Knott’s Halloween Haunt begins September 24. It runs through the end of October.
