"MAKERS," a six-part PBS documentary series by Executive Producers Dyllan McGee & Peter Kunhardt, profiles the impact women have had over the past 50 years. On Tuesday, September 23, KPCC and Community Cinema watched the installment, "Women in Space," which traces the history of women pioneers in the U.S. space program, and features the next generation of women engineers, mathematicians and astronauts — the new group of pioneers who continue to make small but significant steps forward. Following the film, Joanne Griffith  interviewed Rev. Dr. Bear Ride on the life and legacy of her sister, the late Dr. Sally Ride — the first U.S. woman in space.

Screening partner, Iridescent, left the audience inspired to pursue scientific curiosity by concluding the evening with a group experiment.
