Frank Sinatra liked his Manhattan dry. James Bond’s martini must be shaken, not stirred. The Old Fashioned is Don Draper’s drink of choice. Following in the footsteps of such debonair gents, Angelenos have fallen back in love with these classic cocktails.

How did this happen? Do we blame – or thank – the economy? What makes a cocktail "classic," anyway? Is this resurgence here to stay… or is this comeback destined to dry up?

On Thursday, December 12th, KPCC’s Crawford Family Forum went to The Virgil in Silver Lake, where Off-Ramp host John Rabe talked cocktails with four of L.A.’s best eaters, drinkers and makers.

Get a taste of this conversation in a segment produced and aired on KPCC's Off-Ramp: Want a date? Learn to make classic cocktails!
