Updated 1:01 p.m.: The suspect in an officer-involved shooting in the Hollywood Hills that left an officer injured Monday morning is dead, according to Los Angeles Police Commander Andrew Smith.

The suspect had earlier holed up in a hillside home after an officer was wounded responding to a domestic battery call, according to police.

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck earlier tweeted that he had spoken with the officer and that she was doing well.

11:26 a.m.: An officer was wounded while responding to a domestic battery call in the Hollywood Hills early Monday, authorities say.

LAPD Officer Wendy Reyes told KPCC there was a shooting and that a female officer was injured but that it didn't appear she was hit by gunfire.

The call came in just after 8 a.m. in the 8100 block of Gould Avenue in Hollywood, Reyes said.

Capt. Cory Palka of the Hollywood Division described the incident to KPCC as a "tactical situation" at a residence that is being handled by SWAT and said the shooter is not yet in custody.

Officer Lyle Knight told The Associated Press a suspect is believed to be holed up inside a hillside home there.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said on its alert page that personnel were assisting at an "active LAPD incident" and that two patients have been transported. However, Reyes told KPCC the second person who was transported was not related to the incident.

Palka told KPCC the officer was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's emergency room.

Chief Charlie Beck sent a tweet later indicating that the officer was doing well.
