A body was discovered Thursday morning in a car on its side in the Tujunga Wash off the northbound Hollywood Freeway in the San Fernando Valley, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The vehicle, a 2008 black Cadillac, was discovered at about 7:15 a.m. by Fire Station 86. At 7:30 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department tweeted that the fatal collision occurred in the 430o block of Vineland Avenue.
The deceased has been identified as a 31-old-male from Woodland Hills, says California Highway Patrol Officer Leland Tang.
It's not yet clear what exactly happened, Tang said, but the vehicle appeared to have veered off the 101 freeway, through some bushes and into the flood control channel known as the Tujunga Wash.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, Tang said.
