More than a thousand people have camped in front of the Nokia L.A. Live Theater for five days. They're “Twilight” fans awaiting Monday's 7 p.m. red carpet premiere of the fourth film in the series – “Breaking Dawn, Part 1.”
Loyal fans have traveled from up the freeway and around the world to downtown Los Angeles. They hope to watch their favorite “Twilight” stars walk the red carpet.
Debra Lazaro is a biochemist from Northridge. She says this is her third time camping out for a “Twilight” movie premiere. “The adrenaline the day of really gets your heart pounding. It’s like... it’s like doing extreme sports or skydiving. Your heart pounds and there’s screaming. It’s like being front row at a concert. I mean they’re right there. They’re so close and it’s complete fun.”
The fun began on the weekend when movie promoters treated campers to band performances from the soundtrack and a surprise breakfast with some cast members.
Organizers say they distributed wristbands to 1,100 fans who’ll stand on the sidelines of the red carpet event.
